A cosmopolitan area with many foreigners
A 15-minute tram ride to the north of the city center brings you to Kranichstein, a residential area developed in the 1960s. Various types of housing can be seen here: high-rise apartment buildings built in the first stages of the district’s development; family-friendly low-rise apartments constructed in more recent years; single-story bungalow-style houses; and energy-efficient connected houses with small gardens. The northern part of the district is rich in nature, with horse-riding grounds and the Kranichstein Castle, which has been renovated into a hotel and a museum.

Parks in Kranichstein
There are two parks: one around a lake, the Heinrich-von-Brentano-Anlage; and another in the center of the residential area, the Spielplatz K6, a small park with a playground.
