Close to the station and convenient for transportation
Darmstadt-West is centered around the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and Darmstadt Central Station. Offices, factories, military facilities, and research facilities such as the European Space Operations Center (ESOC) are situated around the station and on the west side of the railway tracks, which run from north to south. Heimstättensiedlung, a quiet residential area consisting of mainly detached houses, lies toward the southern part of the district. Its development began in the 1930s.

Not only is the massive supermarket Marktkauf and the more typical supermarkets such as Rewe, Lidl, Penny and Aldi to be found here, but also Turkish and Russian supermarkets, and Geivel Obst, which offers mainly vegetables and fruits.
