For the longest time of its history, Burtscheid was an independent city, famed for its hot springs just like the neighboring city of Aachen– some of the hottest in Europe actually.
Today, you still can feel some of that independence when you walk through the center of Burtscheid, a beautiful pedestrian street where you can have your breakfast on one of the many café terraces or do grocery shopping in the premium specialty stores.
Numerous supermarkets small and large are scattered throughout the compact city, making for comfortable living with multiple shopping possibilities being accessible by foot.
Two parks are situated on either side of the picturesque “city-center” of Burtscheid.
The Ferberpark with its grassy lawn, playgrounds, and basketball court offers diversion for all ages, and the Kurpark hosts concerts, including the annual open-air Kurpark Classix Festival.
Aachen Hbf, the main train station of Aachen, and the city center of Aachen are both walking distance from Burtscheid, an added bonus for young families, couples, and students alike.
