Quiet residential area
Albeit the RWTH Aachen University is present throughout the city, it’s in the area west of the center that most of its institutes and lecture halls are found. However, that doesn’t make the surrounding neighborhood a pure student district: on the contrary, rather quiet and green, it is a popular residential area offering large-scale supermarkets, preschools, an indoor swimming pool and the Westpark. Schanz Railway Station, situated on the southwestern edge of the city center, has direct trains to Düsseldorf, and buses provide a good connection to various university institutes throughout the city, as well as across the neighboring Dutch border all the way to the beautiful city of Maastricht. The Hörn neighborhood is a quiet residential area, detached houses with gardens and overall a lot of green, all while sitting snug in between some of the major institutes of the RWTH, making it a popular place to live among professors and employees of the university.
