The heart of Aachen with its world heritage sites
The heart of Aachen is marked by its historic old town. The world-famous Aachen Cathedral, the historical city hall and the surrounding streets and squares form the backdrop for numerous shops, restaurants, and cafés, hosting weekly markets and a beautiful Christmas market in the month of December. With its museums, the theatre and the Eurogress concert hall, it’s also the main stage of cultural life. Like in the rest of the city, the presence of the university is felt in the center, its main buildings being situated just north of the market square, making for a young, dynamic, and international atmosphere. All the parts of the city are easily reached thanks to the well-connected bus service and the central train station offers direct connections to cities such as Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin, and Paris.
